My boyfriend is a hungry bear… and by hungry bear I mean like the hungriest Grizzly bear there is.

Okay, so this may be a slight exaggeration, but seriously there are days when it seems like his appetite can never be tamed. So in an effort to keep his tummy happy and to avoid him becoming too hangry to function, I am always looking for great homemade snacks that easy for me to store in my bag for emergency hangry situations when we are out and about on the weekends. That’s right – I carry around emergency snacks in my purse for my adult boyfriend should he desperately need it… is this weird? I personally don’t think it’s weird because not only does this mean that we save a ton of money on fast food, but it also means that we keep our snacks super healthy.

Once the Vancouver winter months set in, It seems like I am constantly craving for warm beverages. Well, if I’m really being honest, it is more like I have a deep seeded emotional need for warm beverages to help sooth my inability to cope with cold weather. All winter long I am forever day dreaming about latte’s, tea, hot chocolate and coffee… basically anything that is warm and delicious enough to offset how much I hate being in the cold weather, (even cold weather as mild as Vancouver’s.)

Yes, I admit it!  I am one of those annoying people who spends my days walking around in a state of constant coldness. It’s a problem really… I mean honestly, unless the temperature is upwards of 25 degrees C, it is safe to assume that I am cold. People who know me would even say that I take my aversion to the cold to a whole new level of crazy because I pretty much don’t start wearing anything but pants and sweaters until we are in the 30 degree temperature range.

Now I know that I probably sound like the most ridiculous human being on the planet to any of you fellow Canadians who are living in places that actually have freezing winter temperatures … like -30 degrees C. So before you start hating me, let me just say that I think you are champions of the world for being able to withstand that kind of weather. I am fairly certain that if I stepped out into those kind of temperatures for more than five seconds… I would probably freeze to death instantaneously… seriously.

Happy Monday everybody!!!

Now I know what you might be thinking… “there is no such thing as a happy Monday morning…” and believe me, there are definitely Monday mornings when I would not be able to argue with that statement. However, this particular Monday morning was pretty much the most fantastic Monday morning of all time. How is that possible you ask? Well all of the credit for this spectacular Monday morning is due to these chocolatey, boozy, moist, fluffy little donuts from Irish heaven.

That’s right – this is the kind of amazingness that happens when St. Patrick’s day and donuts collide! Yup… I started this St. Patrick’s Day Monday morning off right with these little bites of heaven, (despite the fact that they are laced with stout and baileys Irish cream,)… I’m sorry is it inappropriate to have beer and liqueur for breakfast??? Well, we will just ignore the inappropriateness of this situation for the time being  it was possibly one of the best decisions I have ever made, ;P.
