This past weekend was a good one. I mean probably not in the way you are imagining. Like, I didn’t spend the weekend at Disneyland or go bungee jumping or take a kite-surfing lesson. Nothing extra cool like that; but I did manage to be uncharacteristically productive in the accomplishing tedious (but very necessary) tasks department.
For instance; I organized my pantry –something I have been meaning to do for weeks… (okay more like months); I vacuumed; Cleaned my office (so necessary); Retrieved a package from the post office; Purchased groceries for the week (like a proper adult); Forgot a couple of items at the grocery store, which I then returned to said grocery store to purchase; Went to the bank (am I the only person still doing this?); Did multiple loads of laundry (it got real); and I remembered to water the plants at my parents place while they are out of town.
#productive… kind of.
It’s currently the middle of the night and I’m wide awake. It’s one of those nights, where all of the excitement from the day makes sleep feel totally unnecessary. So here I am, doing some much needed catch up on recipe posts you have been so patiently waiting for. It feels great right now, but I know I will regret this no sleep decision tomorrow morning. Strong coffee will definitely be a non-negotiable.
But we are here now… so let’s do this.
What exactly is it about giant, crackly topped chocolate chip cookies that makes them so irresistible ? Is it simply because at the end of the day we eat with our eyes, and the crackles are just so pretty that we can’t help but want to bite into them as soon as humanly possibly? Or is it because we know that lurking just beneath that gorgeous crisp crackle is a soft, chewy cookie, studded with ooey, gooey chocolate and an overall flavour that tastes like childhood?
I think for me it would have to be the latter explanation; nostalgia never fails to capture my heart when it comes to homemade treats.
I love matcha. I am always up for a good matcha latte, smoothie or ice cream; I just love the fresh, subtle green tea flavour it brings to the table. Of course my absolute favourite way to consume matcha is when it’s been added to a homemade baked goodie of some sort – particularly when said baked goodie includes chocolate in some shape or form, because chocolate & matcha are pretty much a match made in flavour heaven.

I can’t tell you all how much I love having you request recipes when I post photos to instagram & I really want to do my best to post them quickly for you, but sometimes I really just don’t know where the time goes. But it was a rainy Vancouver day today, so we had a nice cozy day at home, giving Cole & I some much needed time to catch up on some things we have been putting off.

Long time – no recipe share huh!? I’ll say! It’s been a whirlwind of a summer, but the dust is starting to settle & I promise I will be blogging more recipes in the coming weeks. Especially as the seasons to Fall, because it is after all my most favourite season – for many reasons but mainly because it is the season on apples & apples are probably my favourite seasonal fruit to bake with (and you know… eat, obvs).
So I though what better way to welcome in fall, than with a recipe that has fresh apples as the star!
First things first – I’m not sure if you guys already know this, but just in case you didn’t, I thought I would tell you something pretty awesome; It’s officially Friday! YAY!!!
So in honour of this glorious day, what say you and I celebrate by baking up some deliciousness, in the form of these Blueberry Crumble Bars, which we can then spend our weekends devouring – that is if it lasts you the whole weekend, (psst… they won’t in my house,) Sound good? Good morning lovelies! So who else is so excited that Summer is finally here!? I just love summer – literally everything about it!
What are your favourite things about this gorgeous season? Here are a few of mine… Gorgeous sunshine, warm breezes, naps in the shade, aimless road trips, barefoot strolls, pink sunsets, long nights, early hikes, shorts & flip flops, sun kissed shoulders, freckled cheeks, beach days, sand castles, moonlight swims, sneaky splashes, salty hair, wet bathing suites, sandy toes, camping trips, camp fires, marshmallow roasting, s’mores making, BBQ everything, popsicle making, melting ice cream cones, farmers market wanders, & alllllll the fresh summer fruit!
So yeah, I pretty much love everything about Summer, but I especially love the last one; summer fruits – mostly because baking with fresh fruit is probably my favourite thing ever. Case in point – these Fresh Apricot & White Chocolate Scones.

Who else is saying a big “Heck Yes!” to this weekend? I am so ready for it! Mostly because I’m just super over-excited for the activity I have planned for my Saturday – aka my very first Wedding Dress appointment!!! Eeeepss! I’m so excited you guys!
