Skillet Cinnamon Buns with Cream Cheese Frosting

I have one question for you today – is there anything better than homemade cinnamon buns? Honestly, I haven’t made a batch of cinnamon buns in a long time, {pure craziness I know}, but his past Saturday I had such a craving for them, I had absolutely no choice but to make a fresh batch.

Now I have always had a little bit of a thing for cinnamon buns – and by a little thing I mean I’m basically addicted to them {you can read all about my cinnamon bun addiction in my previous post for Dark Chocolate Espresso Cinnamon Buns}.

However; I guess because it had been so long since I had actually made & eaten a batch of classic cinnamon buns, I forgot just how incredibly special they are, and I just can’t help but think that they really are the best thing to bake for a weekend breakfast in all of the land.

Tips for the Perfect Cookie Everytime

I love cookies. Do you love cookies? Like realllly love cookies? Because I reallllly love cookies – like I am basically the cookie monster in human form. So if you are like me, then you have come to the right place my friend. Cookie lovers unite!

I mean honestly, who could look at this picture and not be immediately inflicted with a case of the drools? If there is anybody out there who is looking at this picture, and hasn’t started thinking about making a batch of cookies and then proceeding to eat the entire tray… you have the kind of willpower that I will never know.

Seriously, trying to get me to resist a fresh, homemade cookie that has been baked to perfection with a crisp exterior, chewy center, rich flavour and ooey gooey chocolate….. that’s like trying to get me to resist breathing – and let’s face it, that’s just not going to happen.

But baking the perfect batch of cookies is sometimes a bit of a challenge. Have you ever picked up one of your cookies and asked yourself why they just aren’t turning out as chewy as you would like? Or why they don’t taste as delicious as the cookies at your favourite bakery?

Sweet Lemon Curd Cake

Why hello lovelies!

I’ve got a quickie little recipe share for you here today, because this one was just so darn yummy that I couldn’t wait any longer to share it with you <3

First of all – please forgive me for the lack of photos on this one, but I was barely able to snap these two before the cake was confiscated from it’s photo shoot, only to be gobbled up in the blink of an eye by a couple of hooligans – namely Cole, who loves anything lemon related and my mother who is nothing short of a lemon addict.

So once again – I’m sorry for the lack of cake pictures for you to gawk at. I know we all eat with our eyes and these pictures are definitely not the greatest, so you will just have to take my word for it when I say that this cake is amazing. 

Now let’s get right down to business shall we? This Sweet Lemon Curd Cake is quite literally “the bomb.” So even though my mom ate this cake up before I could even take any pictures, I have to admit that she was the inspiration behind this cake, so I owe the credit of how well it turned out to her.

Cranberry & Brown Sugar Cinnamon Buns

Happy Wednesday {or hump day, whichever you prefer} lovelies! How is everybody? I hope your New Year is off to a wonderful start <3

So I’m just going to call a spade a spade and admit that I have gotten a little cranberry happy on the blog lately what with all the cranberry posts. So I apologize to all of you who follow along and are not necessarily cranberry fans, but I can’t help it – I’m an absolute fool for cranberries.

Fresh cranberries, dried cranberries, cooked cranberries, raw cranberries – I am of the opinion that cranberries are incredibly amazing in all of their forms. Who else can relate to my cranberry addiction? Great – let’s be friends and get reallll cranberry happy with these Cranberry & Brown Sugar Cinnamon Buns…

So here’s the thing – before I came up with this recipe, classic cinnamon buns were pretty much one of my favourite breakfast foods of all time. The simplicity a cinnamony – brown sugar filling that is encased by a soft, fluffy dough, and is topped off with a velvety layer of cream cheese frosting was pretty much my definition of heaven. That is… until I baked these Cranberry & Brown Sugar Cinnamon Buns. ​

Confession … I am a fool for everything and anything that contains oats. Whether it be a breakfast, lunch or dinner dish, I could literally eat oat themed meals all day, everyday, and have zero problems with it. Long story short, I am an oatmeal addict. There I said it…

We have had this conversation to some extent before, but I feel like I have never really confessed just how deeply my love for all things oat related in quite so much detail. So hey – I mean as long as we’re being really honest here – I guess I should tell you that I actually have no problem eating raw oats on their own. Yup, that’s right – believe it or not, I actually find raw oats to be incredibly delicious and sometimes I eat them with a spoon straight from my oatmeal jar . Ahh… that felt so good to get that off my chest 😀

Are you thinking to yourself … “this girl has gone bananas” yet? Well, then I guess this will make you think that I am double crazy time, but I gladly sit down to an extra large bowl of warm oatmeal Every. Single. Morning. Mhmmm , I never miss an oat-meal…. {bad pun definitely intended} 😀

Cole on the other hand is a little less than enthused to sit down to a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. In fact that is probably the last thing that he wants to see on the breakfast table when he is in a hungry-bear man mood in the morning. It’s not that he wouldn’t eat the whole bowl if it was his only option for food… but, let’s just say it takes a little more pizzazz when it comes to getting him excited about consuming his required daily amounts of whole grain, oaty goodness. But it’s okay because I’m always up for the challenge…

Chewy Ginger Molasses Cookie Grams

I’m not sure if there is anything better than receiving a cookie gram as a Christmas gift from a friend.

When in doubt about what to give my lovely friends for Christmas, homemade cookies are always my go to gift. Not only because cookies look adorable as sin when they are stacked and wrapped up with a little Christmas ribbon, but also because they are just little bundles of homemade deliciousness that I know everybody is sure to love.

Oh and did I mention that this little gift is completely budget friendly? So even if you are like me and made a pact with your friends not to spend any money on each other for Christmas…. little packages of cookies like these are totally a-okay (says me) 😀
