Espresso Fudge Brownies

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like your weekend needs brownies, cozzz like brownies……

I feel like you just can’t go wrong with brownies. Whether you are baking them for a girls night in, baking them to pack along for your weekday lunches,  bringing them to a fancy party or just baking a pan to keep you company on the couch while you binge watch Dawson’s Creek on Netfilx… (clearly speaking from personal experience here) – Everybody loves a good brownie, especially when you lace them with espresso, douse them in a silky hot fudge sauce that dreams are made of, and serve em’ up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Who’s with me?

S’mores Buns

Happy weekend peeps!

Okay so I know it’s been a long time coming for this recipe; but I really wanted to wait until the weekend to post this one. I always like to do epic breakfast posts on the weekend because I feel like this is when we all get a little bit inspired to bake things like homemade breads and buns, am I right? Because let’s be real – Who has time to deal with time consuming things like yeast during on a weekday morning?

That’s the beauty of weekends for me; I get to play in the kitchen. Admittedly I sometimes get a little carried away and end up baking enough to feed about 4 families for a week, but who’s really going to complain about having some extra baked goodies around the house? I know I sure ain’t. And then there are the times when I get a little carried away with my weekend breakfast baking adventures, and I proceed to bake up deliciousness that barely even qualifies as breakfast in any other way except for its name.

Rhubarb-Banana Crumble

IMG_2024

Happy Monday lovelies!

So this morning as I reached into the refrigerator for some cream to add to my much needed coffee, I couldn’t help but be enamored by the presence of a gorgeous bundle of bright pink rhubarb I picked up at the farmers market over the weekend. It looked so beautiful all bundled in it’s bow-tied string, that I honestly wanted to cradle it in my arms an cherish it for always…. is that strange? Don’t answer that.

Seriously though, can rhubarb season just please never end???? I don’t know about you but I just love that gorgeous pink stuff. It’s one of my all-time favourite ingredients to bake with because it is so versatile and pretty much tastes amazing with anything and everything. Every year I try it out with different fruit combinations and I always find myself falling in love with the new flavour combo’s.

Such was the case when I stumbled upon a recipe in one of my favourite Canadian Living cookbooks for Rhubarb-Banana Crumble. Say whatttt????? Now I must be straight up crazy, because until I saw that Canadian Living recipe, I had never even thought to pair together rhubarb and banana; But as soon as I thought about it, I was like uhmmm duh!!  So after putting my own spin on the recipe and subsequently tasting {a lottt} the result… I have to be honest with you guys and say this is hands down my favourite rhubarb dessert of the season.

Spring is in the air, temperatures are rising, and the sun is shining. It’s ice cream season!

All my life I have had a very serious weakness for old fashioned chocolate malts. No matter what the circumstance, there has never been a time – and probably will never be a time – that I say no to a chocolate malt.

So my endless love for chocolate malts is really what inspired this recipe and I am so excited to be partnering up with Best Friends for Frosting to share this recipe with you! If you are a chocolate malt lover like myself, this ice cream is going to make you swoon. So pop on over to the Best Friends for Frosting website to see the full post and my recipe lovelies!

White Chocolate Macadamia Cookies

IMG_1678

Happy Tuesday friendlies! I hope everyone’s week is off to a good start and that wherever you are in the world, it is as sunny and beautiful as it has been in Vancouver the last couple of days! I’m super excited to share this cookie recipe with you all today, so bear with me while I share a little story…

Alright so, acouple days ago I was perusing the bulk foods aisle at the grocery store – because this is pretty much my aisle of heaven, and where I spend a lot of my grocery shopping time– when I noticed something amazing… Macadamia nuts were on sale! Say whattt!?!?

Now I don’t know what the situation with macadamia nuts is in other parts of the world – but here in Vancouver, sales on macadamia nuts basically never happen; like it’s pretty much unheard of – so you can understand my excitement when I noticed they were on sale.

Okay, so sometimes it seriously feels like all I ever post for you guys are recipes involving peanut butter and chocolate……… am I completely off the mark on this one or am I overdoing it a little on the peanut butter and chocolate front….??

Hang on a second…. did I just ask if I’m “overdoing it” on the peanut butter and chocolate front??? Scratch that –  and I apologize for asking such a ridiculous question – one could never “overdo it” when it comes to peanut butter and chocolate… am I right?

Phew! I’m so glad we’re on the same page about this, because guess what I have for you lovelies today!? That’s right – yet another peanut butter and chocolate recipe for you to add to your repertoire…. Don’t worry – you can thank me later once you make {and taste} this one ;p

Skillet Cinnamon Buns with Cream Cheese Frosting

IMG_1493

I have one question for you today – is there anything better than homemade cinnamon buns? Honestly, I haven’t made a batch of cinnamon buns in a long time, {pure craziness I know}, but his past Saturday I had such a craving for them, I had absolutely no choice but to make a fresh batch.

Now I have always had a little bit of a thing for cinnamon buns – and by a little thing I mean I’m basically addicted to them {you can read all about my cinnamon bun addiction in my previous post for Dark Chocolate Espresso Cinnamon Buns}.

However; I guess because it had been so long since I had actually made & eaten a batch of classic cinnamon buns, I forgot just how incredibly special they are, and I just can’t help but think that they really are the best thing to bake for a weekend breakfast in all of the land.
