Homemade granola is a staple ’round these parts. I frigen love the stuff. Like if I’m being totally honest, homemade granola is kind of like my vice… I’m straight up addicted to its crunchy goodness.
Every Sunday I make myself a fresh tray, and by the end of the week you better believe I have gobbled up every last crumb. I sprinkle it on my oatmeal in the morning, stir it into my yogurt, pack it in my bag to munch on throughout the day, eat it with warm milk for a midnight snack, and use it as a topper for vanilla ice cream (THE BEST)…
Basically I think homemade granola is delicious with pretty much everything and I will take any and every opportunity to eat it. Anybody else feel this way?
And if you have never made homemade granola, let me just warn you right now; once you make homemade… you will never go back. There is just no comparison between store bought and homemade granola. The freshness, the flavour – trust me, it’s on a whole other level. PLUS when you make homemade, you can completely customize it to suite your flavour preferences.
AND it’s super easy to make… Seriously there’s no downside to this homemade granola business; Delicious, easy, and customizable. It is literally e v e r y t h i n g .
The recipe below is my go to recipe. It never fails and it’s everything you are looking for in a granola; It’s crunchy, not too sweet yet full of flavour, and most importantly… it’s chunky AF! Yes!
If you have been searching for that extra chunky granola recipe to have in your life – this is it.
This recipe is also awesome because it makes a big batch – enough for your family or to share with friends – but you can also easily cut it in half (this is what I do) if you just want a smaller batch. Plus it’s super easy to swap ingredients in and out when you want to change up the flavour profile. Not a fan of honey? Try using maple syrup instead. Don’t like almonds or pecans? Throw in your favourite nuts. Not feeling the cranberries? Toss in your favourite dried fruit instead…. etc, etc.
I hope you love this recipe as much as I do! Happy baking lovelies <3

1/4 cup flax seed
1/3 cup pumpkin seeds
1 cup pecans, roughly chopped
1 cup almonds, roughly chopped
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp applesauce
1/2 cup honey
2 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup dried cranberries

In a large bowl, mix together all the dry ingredients until evenly combined.
In a small bowl, whisk together honey, vanilla, applesauce & butter until combined. Pour over dry ingredients and use a spatula to toss all ingredients together until everything is evenly coated.
Pour granola onto prepared baking sheet and press the granola down tightly to the the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with maple sugar & bake in the center rack of your oven for 45-55 minutes (without stirring) or until it is a light golden brown.
Remove from the oven and use the parchment paper to life the granola out onto a cooling rack. Sprinkle with dried cranberries. Allow to cool completely to room temperature.
Once cooled, break the granola apart into smaller chunks and store in an air tight container for up to 1 week. Enjoy!
