Cardamom Sugar Puff Pastry Twists
Things you need…
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1/4 cup butter, melted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp cardamom
How to make…
Preheat oven to 400F degrees, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Lightly dust flour over a cool, dry work surface. Gently roll the thawed puff pastry sheet out just slightly 1-2 times. You can dust the top of the pastry very lightly with flour if needed.
Use a pastry brush to brush the top generously with the melted butter. Sprinkle with about 1/2 cup of the cinnamon sugar mixture. Use your rolling pin to gently press/roll the sugar into the pastry dough.
Now fold the puff pastry in half and place on a piece of parchment paper. Brush the top with more melted butter, and lightly sprinkle about 2 tbsp of the remaining cardamom sugar on top. Now gently flip your puff pasty over so that the sugared top is now on the countertop and the non-sugared side is facing up. Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with remaining cardamom sugar.
Now slice your folded puff pastry horizontally into 12 equal strips (about 3/4 inch thick slices). Use your parchment paper to lift all the slices onto a baking sheet. Place in the freezer for 5 minutes.
Once chilled, remove your strips from the freezer. Working with one strip at a time, grasp both ends with your hands and gently twist 4-5 times. Place the twist back on the baking sheet and repeat this process with the remaining strips. Place in the freezer for another 5 minutes.
Once chilled place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for ten minutes before enjoying.
