Happy 2021!
We made it here; To a new year after one that saw hard times for everyone around the world. Yes, this year was a challenging one. But it was also one that made me step back and realize just how much we have had to be grateful for.
I know I’m supposed to be overjoyed that 2020 is over, but the truth is, this past year is one that I don’t want to forget so soon.
This was the year I finally decided to follow my heart with The Sweet and Simple Kitchen. It was the year I started a business with my partner. It was the year I truly realized the value of being able to hug my loved ones. It was the year I explored my own backyard. It was the year I spent New Years Eve in the snow by a fire. It was the year I made doughnuts more than any other year passed…
In many ways this was a wonderful year – different yes – but wonderful all the same.
Wishing you all a beautiful and safe new year.

New Years Doughnuts
Things you need…
1x recipe yeast doughnuts (I used mine here)
powdered sugar
chocolate sprinkles
chopped pecans
white sprinkles
Chocolate Glaze (my recipe can be found here)
Cinnamon Sugar (my recipe can be found here)
To Decorate
Once you have prepared and fried your doughnuts, divide them into three equal batches.
Take one of the batches and dip them in a prepared cinnamon sugar mixture. Set aside.
Take the final batch and dip them in a powdered sugar, covering the whole donut.
Allow the doughnuts to set for 20 minutes before stacking onto a plate and serving. Enjoy!
Take one of the other batches and work one by one to dunk one side of the doughnuts in prepared chocolate glaze. While the glaze is still wet, sprinkle a couple with white sprinkles, and sprinkle a couple others with chopped nuts, and the last couple with chocolate sprinkles.
Allow the glazes to set for 20 minutes before stacking and serving them on a plate if you are presenting them. Otherwise you can eat them immediately.
