Nothing gives me chills and all the warm, fuzzy feels quite like a couple that is truly, madly, deeply in love. The kind of couple who loves each other with reckless abandon; totally unconditionally and wholeheartedly. The couple who loves each other for all that they are; the good things, and the bad things because they know in their heart that it’s all of those pretty, and not so pretty things that make up their wonderful partner. The couple that wouldn’t change their partner for the anything because they cherish each other just as they are…
This is the kind of couple I had the pleasure of shooting recently out at beautiful Chilliwack Lake. Rosemary and Evan are the definition of #relationshipgoals – not only that, they are truly the most wonderful, kind, compassionate, intelligent, genuine and caring people you could meet. I am so lucky to be able to call them my friends.
It’s rare to meet couples like them, but when I do I can’t help but revel in their joy together a little bit. It’s always a joy and a pleasure to be in their presence, because you know that what you are experiencing is so beautifully raw and real; it reminds you about what is really important in life.
Just being in their presence is always a pleasure – but shooting them today was a little extra special for me…
Extra special, because for a long time I was heartbroken; Heartbroken enough to let myself believe that true love doesn’t really exist; Heartbroken enough to wonder if my heart would ever heal; Heartbroken enough to wonder if I ever even wanted it to…
But bearing witness to the beautifully unconditional love that these two have for each other… I realize what I fool I was to ever think such things.
This was a beautiful day; beautiful beyond these lovely pictures; beautiful in so many ways…
It feels like a turning point for me… and it’s kinda funny because I think the exact moment that I realized that was captured in the photo at the very bottom of this post. Funny because I haven’t let anybody take my picture in a very long time…
Thank you Megan Lee Voigt for capturing this moment for me.
