There are so many things I love about Summer; sunshine; blue skies; beach days; warm breezes; picnics; campfires; s’mores… the list goes on and on. But if I had to choose my favourite thing about Summer, I would have to say that fresh local berries and stone fruits steal my heart every time.

Last weekend Cole and I went berry picking and came home with buckets of ripe strawberries, sweet raspberries and juicy blueberries. I am up to my ears in fresh local berries right now and absolutely loving every minute of it.

Lemon Cheesecake Tart

Fact: This is my first blog post in almost a month. Clearly I am the worst “blogger” ever.

Truth: I have been feeling totally un-creative lately… is that a word un-creative? Probably not – let’s go with un-inspired instead. I have been feeling totally un-inspired. I feel ridiculous saying this by the way. I mean how silly is it that I couldn’t even manage to post a recipe for a simple batch of cookies in the span of a month? But seriously don’t ask me that, because I don’t have anything close to a good answer to that question.

Rhubarb-Banana Crumble

Happy Monday lovelies!

So this morning as I reached into the refrigerator for some cream to add to my much needed coffee, I couldn’t help but be enamored by the presence of a gorgeous bundle of bright pink rhubarb I picked up at the farmers market over the weekend. It looked so beautiful all bundled in it’s bow-tied string, that I honestly wanted to cradle it in my arms an cherish it for always…. is that strange? Don’t answer that.

Seriously though, can rhubarb season just please never end???? I don’t know about you but I just love that gorgeous pink stuff. It’s one of my all-time favourite ingredients to bake with because it is so versatile and pretty much tastes amazing with anything and everything. Every year I try it out with different fruit combinations and I always find myself falling in love with the new flavour combo’s.

Such was the case when I stumbled upon a recipe in one of my favourite Canadian Living cookbooks for Rhubarb-Banana Crumble. Say whatttt????? Now I must be straight up crazy, because until I saw that Canadian Living recipe, I had never even thought to pair together rhubarb and banana; But as soon as I thought about it, I was like uhmmm duh!!  So after putting my own spin on the recipe and subsequently tasting {a lottt} the result… I have to be honest with you guys and say this is hands down my favourite rhubarb dessert of the season.

Chocolate Velvet Pie

If you have spent more than roughly thirty seconds on my blog, you will know that it’s no secret that I kind of have a special relationship with chocolate. But for those of you who are just meeting me, let me just say this… I love chocolate. I literally have zero self control when it comes to chocolate. Once I have a piece, I can’t stop until I have consumed the entire chocolate supply.

And since we’re getting to know each other, I should probably tell you that I also love pie. Suffice to say, the idea of chocolate and pie coming together in a magical harmony of homemade, baked deliciousness is pretty much my idea of heaven.

Apple Pie Baked Breakfast Oats

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… I’m a freak for oatmeal. Seriously, I could eat it all day everyday, and never get sick of it. No joke, oatmeal for breakfast, lunch and dinner is kind of my definition of heaven.

Warm oatmeal, cold oatmeal, overnight oats, baked oatmeal, stove top oatmeal… whatever the type just hand me a spoon and I’ll be a happy camper.

Homemade Fruit Strudels

Confession: I am a jam addict. That’s right – I said jam addict; No exaggeration.

What can I say? I go all in with jam. I don’t just like jam – I loveee jam.

Given the opportunity, I will pretty much put jam on everything and anything; Toast, banana bread, muffins, scones… Heck just hand me a spoon, with a great big jar of that fruity goodness, and I’ll be the happiest camper there ever was.
